Walking on Water
Presented in collaboration with
“Water is the one substance from which the earth can conceal nothing; it sucks out its innermost secrets and brings them to our very lips.” — Jean Giraudoux (1946)
As part of Calgary’s Ministry of Walking, Renato Vitic has conducted many walks including: Alley Walk, Spiral Walk, Stack Maneuver, Big Box Shop Walk and No Longer Anonymous Excursion. Vitic is also the director of TRUCK Gallery in Calgary.
Water is essential to every aspect of life. It flows beneath our very feet and sustains us as we move through our urban spaces. Join the Ministry of Walking for a tour of the water features of downtown Edmonton. Like the delicate balance between the city and the hydrological forces beneath it, participants will use walking as a means to negotiate a creative relationship with each other and the urban space they inhabit.
Performance Date / Time / Location:
Sunday, September 20 / 1 – 3pm / Start at 1pm at Art Gallery of Alberta, Enterprise Square, 100-10230 Jasper Avenue
